Family law

We provide comprehensive legal support in the field of family law, delivering professional and precise solutions in both straightforward situations and complex disputes. We assist with document preparation as well as representation before courts and state authorities.

Support in Divorce Proceedings

Divorce before a Notary:
When comparing divorce before a sworn notary with divorce through the court, the notarial process is faster and takes less time; however, this is only possible if there are no disputes between the spouses. If neither spouse withdraws the divorce application in writing within 30 days from the date it is submitted to the notary, the marriage is dissolved.

Divorce through the Court:
When a divorce takes place in court and the parties cannot reach agreement on specific issues (such as division of property, child custody, or maintenance), the court process becomes longer, as disputes must be examined and decisions adopted. There may be several court hearings, and each party may submit claims that must be reviewed and assessed.

Divorce with a Foreigner in the Territory of Latvia:
We provide full legal support in divorce proceedings involving a foreign national. We offer:

  • Assistance in drafting the required documents;

  • Assistance with legalization and apostille procedures;

  • Translation of documents into Latvian and organization of notarial certification procedures;

  • Representation of a spouse’s interests in court, before a sworn notary, and before state authorities of the Republic of Latvia.

Child-Related Matters and Protection

Custody and Contact Rights:
We assist in establishing or amending child custody arrangements and contact rights by preparing the necessary documents and representing clients in disputes. We provide solutions both through mutual agreement and court proceedings.

Protection of Children’s Rights:
We provide support in situations where it is necessary to ensure a child’s safety, stability, and best interests, including disputes regarding residence, care, and day-to-day matters.

Recovery of Child Maintenance (Alimony):
We prepare applications for the recovery of child maintenance, helping to ensure fulfillment of the obligation to support a child. Where necessary, we represent clients in court and cooperate with the Maintenance Guarantee Fund.

Division of Joint Property:
We provide legal assistance in the division of joint property, both by agreement and through litigation, including the division of real estate, savings, liabilities, and other assets.

Spouses’ Property and Non-Property Relations:
We prepare documents regulating spouses’ property relations, provide consultations on marital agreements, and offer assistance in dispute situations.
We also assist in paternity establishment and contestation proceedings by preparing all necessary documents and providing legal representation.
